Research Investigator with Environmental Health and WASH under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division (Adv#100/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

Environmental Health and WASH (EWASH) Unit under the Health System and population Studies Division focuses on determining and mitigating environmental contaminants, evaluating WASH strategies for improved health, and generating evidence to understand the extent of environmental pollution and contamination in low-resource settings. The findings guide in designing new research agenda and implementing appropriate and context-specific intervention to reduce the pollution and contamination and related disease burden in low resource settings.

Key responsibilities:

The Research Investigator will report to the Principal investigator and will be responsible for coordinating both quantitative and qualitative data collection activities, facilitating training, data processing, analyses, and writing up the results using mixed method research under the above-mentioned project. The Research Investigator will also be responsible for developing concept notes, participating in proposal and protocol writing, dissemination of research findings, coordinating research studies in collaboration with government and non-government, national and international partners within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. The major areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead and coordinate multi-project research activities, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines;
  • Track study progress, interpret emerging outcomes with investigators, and provide feedback for ongoing process improvement;
  • Maintain clear documentation of field observations to support continuous monitoring;
  • Develop protocol, prepare and review annual protocol reports for IRB submission;
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including national consultations and workshops with government and partners;
  • Supervise multidisciplinary teams, ensuring quality implementation, protocol adherence, and data integrity;
  • Generate new research ideas and formulate research questions with a focus on environmental issues to generate evidence for designing interventions to reduce exposures;
  • Apply critical analysis and conduct rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful inferences;
  • Contribute to disseminating research findings to study community and scientific communities, stakeholders, and policymakers;
  • Support the PI and investigators in scientific and technical activities, including manuscript writing, publication, Op-ed and news article and proposal development for funding.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health from a reputed university with excellent academic record;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in public health research;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods;
  • The ideal candidate should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.

Location: Dhaka

Number of Positions: 02Contract Type and duration:

Short-Term; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.Salary & benefits:

  • 1,40,750/-per month(consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability
