The SSR manager will contribute to the implementation of SSR activities as part of strengthening the community approach to sexual and reproductive health in the Bimbo Health District. The implementation of the complete SONUB package and the monitoring of the quality of all reproductive health activities in the health centers supported by ALIMA in the district. ALIMA’s support for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in the district of Bimbo aims to strengthen the achievements of the project since its implementation, which aimed to strengthen the geographical, physical and financial accessibility of populations to health care. basic health (support for the policy of free treatment and care for severe malaria in pregnant women and children under 5, sexual and reproductive health) while integrating research.

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

  1. Support the strengthening and implementation of sexual and reproductive health activities in the supported health structures and in the Mobile Clinic sites of the targeted Health Districts:
  • Contribute to the realization of the initial studies and collection of relevant data of the project in general, and in particular on sexual and reproductive health:
  • Make an inventory of the problem of unwanted pregnancies including a community diagnosis of the actors involved in its management;
  • Identify the socio-cultural barriers to access to care for women in SRH;
  • Participate in meetings at district or regional level on themes related to sexual and reproductive health;
  • Participate in the orientation of partners on the objectives and expected results of projects;
  • Participate in the strengthening of IEC/BCC activities on SRH (in particular abortion, FP) by community associations, targeting more particularly young adolescents, men, parents of students and teachers;
  • Participate in setting up the “school for husbands” experience;
  • Increase the supply of long-acting contraceptive methods in health facilities;
  1. Ensure the planning and implementation of interventions to strengthen the technical capacities of health personnel on themes related to sexual and reproductive health
      1. In the delivery room:

Support the capacity building of midwives and midwives in centers supported by the SONUB or C protocols according to the package identified to be implemented, emphasizing:

  • Instrument deliveries (vacuum)
  • Management of incomplete abortions using the manual vacuum aspiration technique
  • Management of postpartum haemorrhage and delivery
  • Training in newborn resuscitation (suction, cardiac massage and ventilation) using didactic material (neonatal)
  • Management of eclampsia and pre-eclampsia
  • Steps to take before and during the transfer of obstetric emergencies to SONUC
  • Compliance with hygiene standards for work rooms
      1. In prenatal, postnatal and gynecological consultations:
  • Evaluate and improve the quality of prenatal and postnatal consultations.
  • Ensure that educational sessions are held during CPNs, in collaboration with midwives
  • Ensure careful examination of women during ANC,
  • Collect information by area, which may be the cause of low consultation of pregnant women during CPNs and home births
  • Ensure proper management of gynecological cases and STIs
      1. Planning familial :
  • Conducts an evaluation of the family planning program in the various health centers; implement corrective measures based on the results of this assessment
  • Assess the quality/quantity of different contraceptives available in services
  • Train and support midwives in the placement of implants and IUDs
  • Collaborate with affected team in family planning services to improve awareness
      1. Care of VVS in health structures

With the nurse quality of nursing

  • Establish and strengthen a good circuit and ensure compliance with the protocol for the management of cases of VVS in the supported health centers
  • Support midwives to improve care for VVS in health centres.
  • Maintain a reassuring link with the other partners involved in the management of VVS
  • Ensure comprehensive care for victims, especially on the non-medical component provided by other actors (psycho-social and legal component at the request of the victim) if there is any
  • With the majors of the maternity services, ensure the availability of inputs/treatment molecules in the care units.
  • Establish physician referral criteria for complicated cases
    1. Ensure the planning and coordination of sexual and reproductive health activities
  • Ensure periodic planning of activities under the supervision of the project manager and in collaboration with the District Management Teams;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the planned activities, and if necessary, redirect the activities in order to achieve the objectives of the projects with the agreement of the project manager and the ECD;
  • Ensure the supervision of interventions related to sexual and reproductive health;
  • Analyze project indicators and propose improvement strategies.
  • Develop SRH working tools, plans and training modules.
    1. Maintain good relations with the authorities, ECDs, FOSA health staff and project target communities:
  • Facilitate understanding, acceptance and adherence to projects by partners;
  • Maintain permanent contact with ECDs, FOSA health staff;
  • Help to ensure the good visibility of ALIMA’s interventions in the area of ​​intervention;
  • Strengthen the skills of health workers on topics related to SRH (refocused CPN and SONU, FP, morning-after pill, excision, post-abortion complications, reception of patients, medical management of unwanted pregnancies, abortions, maternal and neonatal death audits);
    1. Monitoring, analysis and reporting
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of various data collection tools (registers, logbook, etc.)
  • Evaluate the quality of the data collected and the keeping of various registers
  • Actively participate in the monitoring of activities and the report (collection and analysis of reproductive health service activities of supported health centers
  • Participate in meetings to monitor or implement this approach integrating research with the Ministry of Health (Direction de la Santé Familiale et de la Population (DSFP), Department of Maternal and Child Health and PMTCT, Direction of Health Region No. 1, Bimbo District).
  • Participate in the monthly ECD/ALIMA follow-up meetings during which the results and health data of the past month will be analyzed, the bottlenecks and the solutions that could be brought to them.
  • Capitalize on the approach and its impact in the Bimbo health district by writing monthly reports, joint supervision reports and meeting reports to constitute materials for analyzing good practices and lessons learned.
  • Participate in the estimation of needs/orders of inputs necessary for the management of obstetric and neonatal care;
