Know our team

Nutrition International promotes an evidence-based approach to advocacy, decision making, multi-sectoral country planning, and the setting of nutrition agendas. The Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit is Nutrition International’s Centre of Technical Excellence. The GTS Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of and technical support to Nutrition International’s research and programs to influence and improve national and global policies and practice. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Technical Advisor, Anemia to be based in Ottawa, Canada.

About the role

As a member of NI’s Centre of Technical Excellence, the Technical Advisor will support GTS in addressing anemia to strengthen NI’s position as a thought leader and partner of choice for governments, donors, and coalitions at global, regional, and local levels. This role will also support the VP, GTS and STA, Fortification Data, Research, and Evidence in streamlining communication and collaboration between teams at NI working on interventions that address anemia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support thought leadership activities of NI in addressing anemia in women and children
  • Cross-unit coordination to integrate actions to address anemia among different GTS subunits
  • Technical support in data analytics and interpretation of data on anemia generated by NI
  • Technical support in the collation, analysis, and synthesis of evidence to support implementation and evaluation of NI interventions that address anemia
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be required

About you

The Technical Advisor, Anemia position requires a Doctorate or Master’s degree in nutrition, health sciences, international development, public health, or health-related disciplines. Candidates should have two to four years of experience in nutrition, international development and/or public health areas, and knowledge of international development and/or public health issues. Knowledge and/or experience working in the subject area of anemia and/or in interventions that address anemia is preferred.

The Technical Advisor will have supervisory responsibility for consultants as needed. This is a hybrid work setting, and the employee may be required to attend in-office days as per the unit’s requirements. The position also requires international travel to North America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia, typically for 1-2 weeks and not more than 20 days per year.
