ALIMA promotes and defends the principles of fundamental human rights. ALIMA has a zero-tolerance approach towards people guilty of acts of gender-based and sexual violence as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. The protection of those benefiting from and impacted by our intervention is our top priority in everything we do. Anyone collaborating with ALIMA agrees to:

CARE – INNOVATE – TOGETHER:Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 10 million patients, and today deploys its operations in 12 African countries. In 2021, we have developed more than 60 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflict, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support of the national health authorities through nearly 357 health structures (including 45 hospitals and 312 health centres). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from the expertise where it is, whether in their country or the rest of the world. In addition, to improve the humanitarian response, we conduct operational and clinical research projects,
THE ALIMA TEAM:More than 2,000 people are currently working for ALIMA. The field teams, closest to the patients, receive their support from the coordination teams generally based in the capitals of the countries of intervention. These receive support from the 4 desk teams and the emergency and opening service team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The Paris and New York teams are actively working on fundraising as well as representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams who work on behalf of other organizations such as medical NGOs BEFEN, Alerte Santé, SOS Médecins, KEOOGO, AMCP-SP, research organizations PAC-CI, Inserm , the Universities of Bordeaux or Copenhagen, the NGO Solidarités International and many others.

CONTEXT: ALIMA Mission in Mauritania
The medical NGO ALIMA has been present in Mauritania since January 2019. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other international actors, ALIMA carries out projects in the Health-Nutrition sector in the wilayas of Hodh EL Chargui and Brakna. ALIMA is carrying out a project with the objective of helping to ensure free access to curative and preventive health services for children under 5 years of age, in the Wilaya of Brakna, and to strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Health. Similarly, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and according to the needs expressed at the country level, ALIMA carried out a project with the aim of facilitating the vaccination of the people most vulnerable to the severe consequences of Covid-19, in the two targeted Wilayas of Brakna and Hodh El Chargui. Still within the framework of the support to the MOH, ALIMA has opened a project in the HEC as part of a consortium with ACF, GRET and Save The Children, for which it is responsible for the health and nutrition component. In January 2023, ALIMA began a collaboration with GAVI as part of support for Mauritania’s EPI with a technical assistance intervention and the implementation of EPI activities in 5 Wilayas of the country.
The projects are financed in 2023 by ECHO, DUE, GAVI, IFRP/USAID.

Level 3: As part of his or her duties, the incumbent will be required to visit programs and be in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or presentation of a certificate of good character will be required. In situations where it is not possible to provide a criminal record or a certificate of good morals and morals, a sworn statement will be requested.

- You supervise and lead the entire Coordination and field team.
MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
You are responsible for setting up and securing the activities on your mission. You ensure that the teams have the means to achieve their objectives and support them in developing their skills. You are responsible for defining the mission’s medical strategy and monitoring the epidemiological context of the country of intervention. You participate in the definition of medical indicators and ensure their levels of achievement.
You support the medical teams in the development of their skills and you ensure the follow-up of the staff health of all the members of the mission.

EXPERIENCES & SKILLS
Experiences / Training
- You have prior experience in an equivalent position in an international NGO, in degraded security contexts and emergency contexts.
- You have a medical or paramedical qualification and experience in managing medical projects.
- You have skills in monitoring and evaluation, database management and enjoy sharing them with members of the medical team.
- You have good negotiation and diplomacy skills, you enjoy managing a team and adapting to everyone’s needs.
- You know how to develop proposals and donor reports,
- you are comfortable in external representation and are able to participate in high-level negotiations.
LANGUAGES
- Good command of oral and written French is essential;
- English is an asset
CONDITIONS
Duration and type of contract : CDD under French law from 6 to 12 months
Start date : Summer 2023
Salary : According to ALIMA salary grid + valuation of experience + Perdiem
ALIMA supports:
- Travel costs between the country of origin of the expatriate and the place of mission
- Accommodation costs
- Medical coverage from the first day of the contract to one month after the date of departure from the country of mission for the employee and his dependents
- Evacuation for the employee and his dependents
