MENA Regional Director F/M At Mérieux Foundation



Reporting to the Director of Operations, you manage the activities of the Mérieux Foundation in the Middle East in North Africa. You contribute to the definition and implementation of the regional strategy, supervise the development and monitoring of health programs, and guarantee the achievement of operational, financial and institutional objectives.

With this in mind, you will mainly be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

  • Define and deploy the Foundation’s regional strategy in the Middle East and North Africa, consistent with institutional orientations.
  • Manage and supervise the implementation of health programs, guaranteeing their technical quality, impact, compliance and achievement of results.
  • Provide technical expertise in the fields of public health, infectious diseases and medical biology laboratories, and monitor activities in the countries of intervention.
  • Manage, support and develop regional teams while promoting a culture of collaboration, excellence and responsibility.
  • Represent the Foundation to Ministries of Health, donors, international organizations, academic partners and civil society actors.
  • Supervise budget management, financing monitoring, risk management and contribute to the development of new partnerships and financing opportunities.

To achieve your objectives, you will regularly interact with headquarters and other regional directors. You will be required to travel internationally regularly.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in international health, development or international cooperation.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-country programs financed by international donors.
  • At least 7 years of experience in leadership and management functions of multicultural teams.
  • Experience required in the Middle East and/or North Africa and very good knowledge of the cultural aspects of the region.
  • Recognized expertise in public health, infectious diseases and/or medical biology laboratories.
  • Medical or scientific doctorate required (MD, PharmD, DVM, PhD or equivalent) in a health-related field; Master in Public Health appreciated.
  • Professional command of Arabic, French and English.
  • Leadership, strategic vision, diplomatic sense and excellent ability to evolve in complex environments.
