CONTEXT
HI is now a key humanitarian player in research and innovation, which are at the heart of its strategy and allow it to carry out activities and advocacy based on the most recent advances in technology and information.
Since 2016, HI has been researching and testing the use of emerging technologies in ortho-prosthetic fittings, remote service delivery and online training, especially for low- and middle-income countries and complex situations. We are therefore in the process of continuous improvement and innovation of our services to beneficiaries.
To contribute to this challenge, the Technical Department of Rehabilitation is looking for an orthoprosthetist experienced in 3D printing.
The general objective of the position is to support the head office specialist in the global deployment of 3D fabrication of emergency prostheses.
Based at HI’s headquarters in Lyon and attached to the Technical Rehabilitation Department (15 people), the 3D specialist P&O will be in the field approximately 60% of the time.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES / MISSIONS
The objective of the position is to contribute, with the Rehabilitation Specialist, to the modeling of the digital transformation of tele-rehabilitation care / 3D printing technology.
As part of this exciting position, we will entrust you with the following missions:
Operational support (60% of the time)
You will alternate work periods at the head office in Lyon and missions of 4 to 6 weeks in the field.
You will provide operational support for the deployment in HI programs in the important phases of the project: launch, training, support and quality control.
Your missions in more detail:
- Deployment of OrtenShape software in the field
- Deployment of the emergency prosthesis and the prosthesis adaptation protocol in 3D
- Implementation and operational monitoring
- Contribution to communication activities on 3D innovation / rehabilitation in direct contact with HI’s communication teams
Standards / knowledge management support (40% of time)
You will contribute to the production of internal standard guides, the capitalization of practices, studies and research. You will develop a training pack for increasing the skills of the teams.
Ukraine will be the first program you will work on, during the first 6 months. You will review the process and methodological guide for the transition from temporary prosthesis to permanent prosthesis (including the standard project framework).
The programs you should be working on after Ukraine are Rwanda and Uganda, as well as Afghanistan and Yemen.
DESIRED PROFILE
- You are at least licensed as an orthoprosthetist
- You have experience in orthopedic equipment using assisted digital solutions
- You are familiar with professional software for the digital design of orthopedic devices and ideally you have already printed 3D prostheses
- You have at least 3 years of clinical and technical experience in the prescription and design of orthoprostheses.
- You master clinical management and have experience in professional capacity building
- You are familiar with the standards and guides relating to rehabilitation professions and services.
- You have experience in data management
- You can work easily in French and English (read, written and spoken)
- In video or face-to-face, training animation and group management do not scare you
- You have the soul of a Globetrotter and know how to adapt to intercultural and sometimes difficult contexts.
- If in addition, you already have experience in the field of international solidarity or humanitarian action, you are the ideal candidate!
POSITION CONDITIONS
- 18 month CDD
- Taking office no later than October 1, 2023
- Remuneration according to profile

- Working hours: 39 hours per week with 22.5 days of RTT (reduced working time) to be taken each year.
