Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.
Purpose of position
The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for the overall implementation and oversight of nutrition activities (CMAM & IYCF). He/she will also oversee the Nutrition Officer implementing nutrition activities in the areas of implementation. He/She will support the day-to-day running of project activities along with Bahar partners.
The Nutrition Coordinator will also ensure that nutrition activities are fully integrated into other sectoral interventions and enhance coordination between sectors.
The Nutrition Coordinator Will Engage in capacity-building activities, including training and on-the-job mentorship to team members, and provide training to the nutrition team in IYCF-E, CMAM, and other related nutrition-focused activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the implementation of nutrition activities and ensures that the quality standards and state-of-the-art are met.
- Ensures effective start-up, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of Nutrition projects.
- Provides support to the project team; assess training needs; plan & provide training/guidance for staff in setting up new nutrition services.
- Facilitates training for nutrition project teams.
- Participates in and/or leads nutrition assessments as required.
- Manages all Bahar resources (equipment, supplies, HR) committed to nutrition program activities.
- Conducts regular field visits to provide supportive supervision to the projects.
- Ensures timely preparation and implementation of activities while focusing on the targets/ deliverables.
- Represents Bahar at all relevant technical external meetings, working groups, or other meetings as approved by the line manager.
- Ensures that the project meets both internal and donor technical standards and requirements. This includes oversight of implementation quality, reviewing, editing, and submitting donor reports to ensure they are of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
- Provides technical training to ensure that the project staff has the necessary skills to implement the project technically.
- Prepares work plans.
- Undertakes regular field visits to project sites to ensure technical quality and timeliness of ongoing work.
Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:
- BSc Degree in related health fields.
- 3-5 years of NGO experience in the area of nutrition programming.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging in dialogue with a range of actors.
- Experience in nutrition projects.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good computer skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience in engaging the community and community mobilization.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Willingness to travel to project areas within the north of Syria.
