Present in Burkina Faso since 2010, MdM-France has developed several projects in the field of the fight against malnutrition, primary health care, medical care for Malian refugees, prevention against threat of the Ebola epidemic and a project on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) focusing on unwanted pregnancies in the Sahel.
In the Health District of Baskuy in Ouagadougou, MdM-F is implementing the project to RESPECT the sexual and reproductive health rights of adolescents and young people and is continuing phase 2 of the project to reduce morbidity and mortality due to breast cancer. cervix (CCU).
In the health district of Kongoussi, Center North region, MdM-F implements the project called “law, access to health North-Burkina-Faso” and another emergency response project for access to health services of quality for people affected by the humanitarian and security crisis.
In 2023, an exploratory mission is planned in the South-West regions to assess the health and protection needs of populations affected by the security and humanitarian crisis.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the responsibility of the health coordinator, you are responsible for guaranteeing the quality, relevance and scaling up of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (SMSPS) strategy and interventions on the mission, in compliance with MdM standards, international standards and national policies.
Also, you work in close collaboration with the project coordinators and you ensure the quality of the implementation of the SMSPS interventions.
You are also directly responsible for the organization of training actions as well as the analysis of the practice of the SMSPS teams and other actors who would be required to carry out SMSPS activities within the mission.
Finally, you strengthen the capacities of the mission’s SMSPS department and provide technical support to the project teams and in particular to the clinical psychologists of the various projects.
More specifically, your missions are as follows:
Identification of needs and resources
- Carry out continuous assessments of the needs and resources in mental health and psychosocial support of the populations of the different areas of intervention
- Propose adaptations and new relevant activities in mental health and psychosocial support according to the assessments carried out
- Promote the capitalization and sharing of experiences and good practices in terms of MHPSS on the mission
- Participate in the writing of proposals by ensuring that mental health and psychosocial support components are included if relevant
- Propose a strategy that integrates mental health and psychosocial support within projects according to MdM and Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene standards
- Provide support to project coordinators for the recruitment of technical staff in MHPSS
Support, monitoring and reporting of SMSPS activities
- Ensure the quality of the implementation of activities on the various intervention sites in conjunction with the project coordinators and the SMSPS teams on site
- Ensure regular field visits according to the needs identified by the project managers to support the teams and strengthen the quality and efficiency of interventions
- Organize, in collaboration with project coordinators and community mobilizers, awareness-raising and social mobilization activities to develop and strengthen community-based MHPSS activities
- Write monthly activity reports with the aim of continuous analysis and capitalization
- Participate in the drafting of interim and final reports for donors and any other report that may be requested under the program
Training and capacity building activities
- Sensitize the MdM team and the project stakeholders on the SMSPS
- In connection with the project managers, train and organize the supervision of the SMSPS teams of the various intervention sites according to the identified needs and the proposed response strategy
- Organize training for providers of health structures and mobile clinics according to identified needs
- Organize psychological first aid training for MdM staff, healthcare providers and community actors at intervention sites
- Provide team support activities (supervision, practice exchange workshops)
External communication
- Strengthen the partnership with all the other actors in MHPSS in Burkina Faso in order to ensure the coherence of actions, in particular by participating in meetings with the Ministry of Health, the health district teams, the management committees, the agencies of the UN and national and international NGOs and to the mental health & psychosocial support sub-cluster

REQUIRED PROFILE :
Master’s degree in clinical psychology
Experience of at least 2 to 3 years in a similar position
Prior experience abroad with an NGO and in particular in emergency contexts
Proven experience in carrying out a diagnosis and rapid analysis in context experience
in MHPSS support for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and knowledge of the specificities of the response related to GBV
Analytical skills Ability
