Introduction

Context

DRC has been present in Burkina Faso since 2013 with 6 field offices (Dori, Kaya, Ouahigouya, Djibo, Gorom -Gorom and Dédougou) and 1 country office in Ouagadougou. It mainly operates in the areas of protection, water, hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihoods. The organization develops a community approach and seeks, through the implementation of multidisciplinary and cross-border projects, sustainable solutions for populations affected by the conflict – refugees, internally displaced people, host populations, vulnerable people.

With more than a million people internally displaced, around 30% of whom have been displaced for a year or more, the humanitarian community must constantly reflect on the perspectives to be implemented at the programmatic level in the short, medium and long term. . The DRC program in Burkina Faso focuses on the recovery and development of communities with a multi-sectoral approach.

 

About the position

The general objective of the position is to contribute to the implementation of project activities through the schedule which will be established by the Emergency Team Leader.

In addition, the latter must be available for any other DRC activity during his contract.

Responsibilities: (most important points)

  • Participate with the emergency team leader in the preparation, planning, implementation of emergency activities selected for the project (construction of shelters, rehabilitation of shelters, rehabilitation of water points, construction of emergency latrines, implementation of hygiene promotion campaign, evaluations,)
  • Regularly inform the emergency team leader on the status and progress of activities related to shelter, water, hygiene and sanitation (Shelter-Wash) issues and to the people involved (workers, local authorities, beneficiaries, local community, other humanitarian agencies , etc.).
  • Monitor and supervise activity tracking records and documents
  • Initiate stock outflow requests to submit to the manager,
  • Ensure their rational use in the field, and their return if not used.
  • Respect and apply the DRC Code of Conduct.

Contractual conditions

  • National law contract
  • Duration: 6 months
  • DRC classification: Non-management I
  • Base salary: 355,000 XOF
  • Benefits: 13th month, Health insurance.

About you

Technical experience and skills (including number of years of professional experience)

  • Have proven professional experience of at least 2 years in the WASH field in a humanitarian/community environment,
  • Have experience in carrying out emergency washing activities (drilling, latrines, showers, water-trucking, chlorination, hygiene promotion campaigns);
  • Have experience in implementing the rapid emergency response mechanism in collaboration with communities;
  • Have experience working in NGOs on emergency and immediate recovery programs.

Training: (including certificates, permits, etc.)

  • Bac + 2 in civil engineering, water science, environment or other equivalent diplomas
  • Have a motorcycle driving license
  • Have experience working in an NGO on emergency and immediate recovery programs

Languages: (indicate level of proficiency)

  • Perfectly fluent French
  • Mastery of local languages ​​Fulfuldé-Mooré-Tamachek
  • Master computer tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
