Médecins du Monde, a militant medical association for international solidarity, has been committed for more than 40 years to caring for the most vulnerable populations here and there, to testifying to the obstacles observed in access to care, to obtaining lasting improvements health policies for all.
An independent association, we act beyond care by denouncing attacks on dignity and human rights and by fighting to improve the situation of precarious populations.
In France and internationally in nearly 30 countries, our actions aim to facilitate access to the health system by working on 5 priority themes structuring our fights and our advocacy: emergencies and crises, sexual and reproductive health, reduction risks, migrations, rights and health and health-environment.
Since 2010, Médecins du Monde France has been present in Burkina Faso in the Sahel and Center regions and has developed 6 projects there, on maternal and child health, assistance to Malian refugees in the DS of Djibo , management of severe acute malnutrition with complications, prevention of transmission of the Ebola virus and reduction of morbidity and mortality in countries affected or potentially affected by Ebola, reduction of morbidity and mortality linked to unwanted pregnancies and the project “reduction of morbidity and mortality due to cervical cancer in the health district of Baskuy in Ouagadougou” implemented since January 2018.
In Burkina Faso, MdM has been supporting the Health District of Kongoussi, in the Center North regions, since January 2020 with the provision of the minimum package of primary health care activities, the management of cases of gender-based violence and in mental health for the benefit of affected populations through:
- supply of drugs, consumables and small medical equipment
- training of health personnel on the emergency medical device in SRH, GBV, mental health and psychosocial support
- support for the referral and counter-referral system by providing ambulance tricycles at primary and secondary level
- setting up mobile clinics
In 2023, MdM aims to continue its projects and develop its response in the country, through the opening of another crisis response project in the Hauts-Bassins region
An exploratory mission is planned for the end of 2023 in the South-West region, in order to assess the health and protection needs of the populations affected by the security and humanitarian crisis in this region.
Other projects under development on health themes could start in 2023-2024.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the responsibility of the general coordinator, you design, manage, coordinate, adapt and evaluate the strategy of the programs developed in all the areas of intervention of Médecins du Monde in Burkina Faso, in close collaboration with the health coordinator. and program teams.
You also support the implementation of planned projects in the areas of intervention as well as the development of new relevant interventions in these same areas according to the identified needs and strategic orientations.
Your main responsibilities are:
Strategy and implementation of activities
- Coordinate the definition and implementation of the mission’s overall programmatic strategy
- Support the planning, organization, coordination and monitoring of all activities
- Integrate the recommendations of the health coordinator to ensure the quality and consistency of projects
- Supervise the harmonization and capitalization of tools and good practices
- Support the development of reference budgets and analyze budget monitoring
- Monitor and continuously monitor the humanitarian situation and program issues and propose readjustments
- Participate in the implementation and proper functioning of the monitoring and data analysis system
- Ensure the integration and respect of gender aspects in a transversal way
Search for funding and donor relations
- Actively contribute to fundraising
- Develop and coordinate the drafting of project proposals to be submitted to donors
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements during project design, implementation and reporting
- Participate in meetings and progress reports with donors
Representation and coordination
- Ensure the representation and positioning of Médecins du Monde vis-à -vis partners and donors
- Ensure the establishment and maintenance of an effective network of interlocutors in support of MdM’s operational and humanitarian objectives
Internal reporting and communication
- Ensure the revision of periodic internal activity reports and other internal monitoring tools
- Ensure operational monitoring of the implementation of activities, consistency with budget monitoring and provide analysis in conjunction with project managers
- Coordinate and support the advocacy and communication team in the implementation of their activities
Team management and animation
- Recruit, support and evaluate team members (team of 4 people)
- Animate team dynamics, promote exchanges and coordinate interventions
- Guarantee transversal program coordination mechanisms that ensure good collaboration with the health coordinator and the mission teams
- Set team member goals, track them and implement adjustments if necessary
- Provide technical support to the team, particularly on project management

Higher education in project management (Bac+5)
Experience in project management of at least 3 years
Experience in emergency contexts and responses
Knowledge of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)
Knowledge of the gender theme and its cross-cutting operationalization
Knowledge of the Sahel appreciated
