Position based in Dakar with 30% of the time in the field
FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS:
The DO reports to the General Manager, he/she is part of the Management Committee of ALIMA and the CORAL (Clinical and Operational Research Alliance) research platform, and collaborates with all the directors. The DO organizes and supervises the teams in charge of logistical support and support for field operations. The DO also collaborates with the head of the East Africa office and in synergy with the other directors and departments with the aim of developing ALIMA’s strategy and operations in this part of Africa. The people directly under the responsibility of the DO are:
- 1 operational logistics and supply manager
- 3 Program Managers: Desk 1 (Niger, Cameroon, DRC, Chad), Desk 2 (Mali, Burkina Faso, CAR, Mauritania), Desk 3 (Guinea, Sudan, Ethiopia, Nigeria)
- 1 Head of the Emergency and Openings Department
- 1 Medical Service Manager
- 1 Head of the Institutional Funding Department
- 1 Context and security analysis advisor
- 1 project manager for the operations group
- In collaboration with the general manager, he supervises the research manager within the framework of the Coral platform.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
The DO is responsible for developing, adapting and implementing ALIMA’s operational strategy as part of its care mandate in a partnership and innovative approach. He/She is responsible for the proper functioning of the Operations Department, the achievement of its objectives validated by the CEO and the Board and the animation of the teams of the Operations Department.
Main activities :
- He.She defines an annual and multi-annual action plan and ensures its implementation, evaluation and appropriate adjustments
- He.She defines the support needs, ensures the search for the means necessary to achieve the operational results and rationalizes their use so as to achieve the set results
- He.She is proactive and encourages innovative and research activities
- He.She encourages ALIMA’s partnership policy
- He.She participates in the work of the HR Department for the development of humanitarian frameworks
- He.She watches over and is responsible for the safety of ALIMA teams and partners
- He.She encourages and ensures the transversality of the support in a desire to improve the quality of ALIMA’s operations by collaborating with all departments
- He.She represents the association internally and externally
EXPERIENCES AND QUALITIES
You have significant experience in responsibility for humanitarian medical operations in the field and at least one work experience in a position of responsibility at the headquarters of an international NGO.
You have a detailed knowledge of the environment of humanitarian aid, policies and issues of humanitarian medicine. You have already monitored projects in volatile conflict and security contexts.
You appreciate the management of an experienced executive team, you are able to set clear priorities, make decisions and defend them in a reasoned way, but also to delegate and support the development of these teams.
You speak and write French and English.
TERMS
Duration of the contract: Permanent contract under Senegalese law
Starting date: 09/01/2023
Duration and type of contract: CDI under Senegalese law
Salary: A gross monthly salary between 3,980,000 and 4,500,000 FCFA depending on experience and family situation
