JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, s/he will provide professional technical advice input in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health condition of the target population. Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, existing and validated protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiary’s health conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applies medical knowledge and skills for the diagnosis of health conditions.
- Carry out outpatient and/or inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting protocols in targeted HF and in mobile clinic activities.
- Possesses Knowledge of and ensures all medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are always followed and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
- To assess and make the necessary arrangements for patients who need advanced care that is not available at INTERSOS health facility and must be referred.
- Assists in response and management of any health and nutrition emergency and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
- Promotes mother-infant and young child feeding best practices in various health facilities.
- Participates actively in planned program Rapid Health and Nutrition assessment/surveys.
- Reviews personnel issues and concerns of health and nutrition staff and assist with determining and implementing solutions.
- Participates in the recruitment of health and nutrition program staff as appropriate.
- Supervises the use of materials, equipment, and supplies for the intervention.
- Identifies opportunities for program development.
- And any other task as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in leadership roles
- Person must possess MBBS with 2-year Working experience.
- Valid practicing License
- Leadership, people management, and development, teamwork, and cooperation
- Fluency in spoken and written English (Mandatory), Hausa and Kanuri.
- Respect and adherence to protection principles
- Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, internet, etc…).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.
- Capacity to work under pressure and willingness to work and live in a complex context.
- Work within the framework of INTERSOS Nigeria’s core values.
- Act as an ambassador for INTERSOS Nigeria, through professionalism and conduct.
- Adhere to all INTERSOS policies and procedures both technical and administrational.
- Maintain and care for all equipment issued by INTERSOS Nigeria and for any losses or damages due to negligence you will be liable for repair or replacement.
