Project Coordinator At ALIMA



ALIMA in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC):

ALIMA is present in 6 provinces of the DRC, the project carried out in the Province of Ituri by the ALIMA/COOPI consortium, based in Bunia, is a multi-sector emergency response. It aims to support 8 health areas in the Mangala and Bambu areas to reduce the morbidity and mortality of a total population of 104,118 hosts and 22,117 displaced victims of conflicts. Thus, the project intends to strengthen the activities already implemented in the sectors of i) health with access to free and quality care including mental health ii) nutrition, for children under 5 iii) protection with the reduction of vulnerabilities and the strengthening of the capacities of SVBG to rebuild and protect themselves via a holistic response iv) WASH by significantly improving access to hygiene.

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY

Level 3: As part of his or her duties, the incumbent will be required to visit programs and be in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or presentation of a certificate of good character will be required. In situations where it is not possible to provide a criminal record or a certificate of good morals and morals, a sworn statement will be requested.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

  • Under the responsibility of the ALIMA Head of Mission, you supervise the project team
  • Your project team is made up of a medical referent, an administrator, a project logistician, a MEAL, and a quality of nursing care (RSI).

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, you are responsible for ALIMA’s operational interventions within the framework of the project. In close collaboration with the capital team, you define the priorities and objectives of the project and establish a plan to achieve them. To achieve this, you examine data relating to population health and humanitarian needs, analyze the context, the humanitarian issues at stake, as well as the risks and constraints associated with the context; you then assess the needs in terms of human and financial resources. In addition, you coordinate the execution of the project, in close collaboration with the medical coordinator and the deputy head of mission, in order to ensure the effective achievement of the objectives and also in order to improve the state of health of the target population as well as the humanitarian situation. Finally, you ensure compliance with ALIMA’s and the lessor’s expenditure commitment procedures.

You are the interface between the coordination team and the field team that you supervise and represent ALIMA with local contacts. You are the field guarantor of Alima’s operational principles. Through the activities, you defend them, apply them and disseminate them. You supervise and animate the field team and facilitate its participation in the dynamics of the project.

Experiences and Skills

You have a successful experience within a medical INGO in managing projects and supervising a multicultural team. You demonstrate strong negotiation skills and are able to develop and maintain an effective network. You know how to evolve in degraded security and/or emergency contexts (management of epidemics).

In-depth knowledge of humanitarian donors is an asset. You are comfortable with computer tools (word, excel and internet). You encourage teamwork, you are problem-solving oriented and you communicate easily.

LANGUAGES

  • Good command of French (read, written, spoken) essential
  • Proficiency in a local language is an asset

Conditions

Duration and type of contract : CDD under French law for 6 months, renewable .

Starting date : April 2023

Salary : According to ALIMA salary grid + valuation of experience + Perdiem

ALIMA supports:

  • Travel costs between the country of origin of the expatriate and the place of mission
  • Accommodation costs
  • Medical coverage from the first day of the contract to one month after the date of departure from the country of mission for the employee and his dependents
  • Evacuation for the employee and his dependents
